Beonard's Losers
2006, Week 10
Howdy, football fans! Another 5-2 weekend from the Smart Pill machine.
Am I finally getting good at this? There's only one way to
find out - let's take a look at this week's games..
Northwestern at Iowa
The purple kitties head west to Iowa this weekend to try their claws
out on a flock of Hawkeyes and try to break a 6 game losing streak.
The local birds have only one home loss this season and that's to
the number one team in the country. I feel bad for 'em, but it'll
be the felines who come out of this one bloody. Beonard's loser: Northwestern
Indiana at Minnesota
Glen Mason's career is in serious jeopardy, and he hopes that his
rodents will have an answer for Terry Hoeppner's hot shots. The
Gophers are coming off a 44-0 loss to Ohio State and they need a win
here to keep any sense of legitmacy. Meanwhile, Indiana is above
.500 in conference play and after spanking the Spartans last week, they
only need one more win to end the Big Ten's longest bowl drought.
Maybe it is because I'm biased, but I have to go with the home
team in this one. Beonard's loser: Indiana
Illinois at Ohio State
People thought Illinois might be a contender when they beat Michigan
State. Then they forgot to keep winning. This weekend,
they'll play host to the best football team in the land. Ron Zook
is an optomist, but no one can think Illinois has a chance in this one.
Look for Illinois to get their 5th straight loss. Beonard's
loser: Illinois
Purdue at Michigan State
I've been saying it for weeks now and finally Michigan State proved me
right. This week, they announced that John L. Smith will not be
returning as a coach next year. Pay attention, Joe Tiller, your
job could be up next. The West Lafayette locomotive has plenty of
coal, but they just can't build up any steam. The way both teams
have been playing, I'm not sure either one of them deserve to win, but
if the visitng bartenders can wake their offense up without putting the
defense to sleep, they'll return home victorious. Beonard's
loser: Michigan State
Penn State at Wisconsin
This is easily the best game in the Big Televen this week. Joe Pa
will bring his kitties up to cheese land to take on Bret Bielema's
rodents. The Nittany Lions are out to prove that last season
wasn't a fluke and they'll be eager to sink their teeth into some
Wisconsin flesh. With the exception of Michigan, no team has even
come close to toppling the Badgers, and you can expect Camp Randall to
be well-defended.. Beonard's loser: Penn State
Ball State at Michigan
The Muncie birds don't have an enviable schedule this season.
This weekend, they'll take on a third Big Ten opponent as they
head up to Ann Arbor to sacrifice themselves to Lloyd Carr's
Wolverines. I don't think I really need to say much about this
game. It'll be over before it starts. Beonard's loser: Ball State
Well, folks, that's all the Smart Pill Machine has for us this week.
Time for a nap. Enjoy the games!
